The name “Dauntless” has deep military history and science fiction roots because it has been given to various types of crafts and missions on the high seas, air, and in deep space. Being dauntless is having the courage in the face of danger and the unknown threats, and being willing to strive for a better future. Visionaries, explorers, entrepreneurs, and militaries must be dauntless if they are to succeed. They must adapt quickly, act with defiant valiance, and strategize holistically to not only survive but to flourish. With this same spirit, Dauntless offers a platform for audacious space thought as humanity expands to the stars - exposing great opportunities but also immense threats. Our Dauntless is a truly independent and inclusive guiding star for advancing U.S. and allied spacepower.
The “T-shaped” star in our Dauntless logo represents Polaris. From the earliest recorded history, Polaris - the north star - has served as the guide for navigators from the days of antiquity until today. For the U.S. Space Force, Polaris symbolizes the guiding light of security and alludes to a constant presence and vigilance in space now and in the future. Dauntless aims to serve like that star to guide spacepower thinkers through the darkness and uncertainty of an evolving space domain.
